John William Manire was born on September 20, 1763 in Amelia County, Virginia to John & Elizabeth Jackson Manire. He might have been named after his father John and his two grandfathers, as both were named William. He married Patty Ogilvie, daughter of William Ogilvie and Mary Harris, on December 9, 1785 in Granville County, North Carolina. Patty was born on August 15, 1767 in Granville County, North Carolina. Of this marriage are 5 known children: Thomas, Sally, Elizabeth, Lemuel and John. John William Manire was listed on the List of Souls for the Nap of Reeds District for Granville County, North Carolina in 1786.

Thomas Manire was born about 1785 in Granville County, North Carolina. I believe he died before his father did as it is listed in his fathers will: I give and bequeath unto Nancy Freeman the daughter of my son Thomas to her and her heirs From that we also get that Thomass daughter Nancy married someone with the last name Freeman. We dont know anything about Thomas, who he married or anything about daughter Nancy. |

Sally Manire was born on August 7, 1787 in Granville County, North Carolina. She was not listed in her fathers will because she died 2 years before it was written. She died on April 15, 1841 at the age of 53 years, 8 months, and 10 days old. She was buried in the Original Manire Cemetery (Circa 1837) in Chapel Hill, Marshall County, Tennessee. I believe she never married. |
