Ebenezer Frost Vancleave was born in 1774 in Rowan, North Carolina to William B. Vancleave & Abigail Frost.

He married Susannah Manire October 8, 1796 in Madison County, Kentucky, daughter of John Manire and Elizabeth Jackson. She was born about 1775. Of this marriage there were 4 known children: Stephen, Jonathon, William Bailey, and Thomas S. Vancleave.

A Ebenezer Vancleave was listed on the 1800 Garrard County, Kentucky Tax Lists.

Susannah must have died sometime between March and December of 1810. I doubt they divorced. Her last son was born in March and Ebenezer married Elizabeth Carrick December 30, 1810 in Williamson County, Tennessee. Elizabeth gave him 4 more known children: John R., Isaac, Andrew J. S., and Tolbert Vancleave.

A Ebenezer Vancleave was listed on the 1820 Bedford County, Tennessee Census.

A Ebenezer Vancleave was listed on the 1840 Bedford County, Tennessee Census. He was listed with: 1 male between the ages of 5 and 10, 1 male between the ages of 15 and 20, 1 male between the ages of 60 and 70, 1 female between the ages of 10 and 15, 1 female between the ages of 15 and 20, 1 female between the ages of 20 and 30, and 1 female between the ages of 40 and 50. If this is our Ebenezer Frost Vancleave then the census accounts for Ebenezer, his wife Elizabeth, and 2 sons, Tolbert and Andrew. I don't know who the females could be unless Elizabeth had some children before she married Ebenezer.

August 3, 1850 - District No. 2, Breathitt County, Kentucky

 

Ebenezer died in 1860 in Tennessee.  He was about 86 years old when he died. Susannah was about 35 years old if she died in 1810. I have no other info on Elizabeth.

Jonathon Vancleave was born April 1, 1800 in Maury County, Tennessee. He died February 2, 1885 in Eden, Yazoo County, Mississippi. He was about 85 years old when he died.

Thomas S. Vancleave was born March 10, 1810 in Bedford County, Tennessee. He died March 27, 1887. He was about 77 years old when he died.

John R. Vancleave was born in 1812 and died in 1870.

Isaac Vancleave was born in 1816.

Andrew J. S. Vancleave was born in 1824.

Tolbert Vancleave was born in 1833.
